Purpose Of Closed Circuit TV Inspection
Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) inspection is used to inspect sewer systems, storm water systems and wet wells. A video camera is moved through the sewer system to check for:
- Structural defects
- Operational and maintenance defects
- Overall structural condition of the system
- Obstructions such as roots and other debris
- Location of service laterals
- Inflow and infiltration of the sewer
Cameras are mounted on robot crawlers or they can be pushed or pulled through the system being inspected. Some CCTV systems include pole mounted zoom cameras for closer inspection of defects. The camera is connected to a monitor located at the surface in a van or truck. Our CUES CCTV Inspection camera will zoom, take still pictures, pan and tilt, and provide adequate lighting.
The technician makes note of any defects spotted and any other observations of the system being inspected.
As the mobile camera is moved through the sewer system a counter keeps track of the distance traveled from the starting point. This data is used to determine exactly where a defect or problem is located in the sewer or storm water system so repairs can made.
